Cape May County Zoo Launches Easy Donation Program for Animal Care

The Cape May County Park & Zoo is encouraging the public to support its animal care efforts through an online donation wish list designed to help provide enrichment and everyday supplies for zoo animals. Because the zoo operates with free admission, it depends heavily on donations and community support to maintain high-quality care for its animals. The zoo’s Amazon wish list includes a variety of items used for feeding, enrichment, and habitat activities that help animals stay physically active and mentally engaged. Supporters can purchase items online and ship them directly to the zoo or deliver donations in person during designated weekday hours. Zoo officials emphasize that enrichment programs are an essential part of animal welfare, helping encourage natural behaviors and improving the animals’ quality of life. Donors who provide contact information may also receive photos showing animals enjoying the donated items. The program offers local residents and longtime visitors an easy way to support one of Cape May County’s most beloved attractions from home while helping preserve the zoo experience for future generations.
North Wildwood Sets Sail for Annual Captain Kidd Pirate Day

North Wildwood will host its annual Captain Kidd Pirate Day on Saturday, May 16, 2026, inviting children and families to take part in a free pirate-themed celebration along the Boardwalk and beach. The event includes costume judging, a pirate parade, and a treasure hunt inspired by the legend of Captain Kidd.
Children ages 12 and under are encouraged to wear pirate costumes and gather at 26th Avenue and the Boardwalk between 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. for registration and judging. The parade begins at 11 a.m., traveling north on the Boardwalk to 20th Avenue Beach, where participants will search for hidden treasure. Organizers say the event is intended to provide a fun and festive kickoff to the spring shore season, with prizes awarded for the best costumes and pirate spirit.
Cape May’s Southern Mansion Ranked Among America’s Most Haunted Hotels

The Southern Mansion in Cape May has been recognized as one of the most haunted hotels in America, with guests and paranormal investigators reporting unexplained activity inside the historic Victorian inn for decades. Built in 1863, the mansion is known for its grand architecture, antique décor, and carefully preserved historic atmosphere, which many say contributes to its eerie reputation. The Southern Mansion’s paranormal reputation has been amplified through national television appearances and online paranormal coverage. The property was featured on Syfy’s “Ghost Hunters” and has also appeared in investigations and features by numerous paranormal YouTube channels, ghost-hunting groups, and supernatural website Stories surrounding the mansion often focus on Ester Allen, a relative of the original owner, whose spirit is said to still roam the property. Guests have reported hearing footsteps, whispers, laughter, and unexplained noises throughout the mansion, along with sightings of apparitions and sudden cold spots. Paranormal television investigations also helped solidify the mansion’s reputation after crews documented unusual sounds and activity, especially in the basement. Despite its haunted lore, The Southern Mansion remains a popular luxury bed-and-breakfast destination in Cape May, offering gourmet breakfasts, guided historical tours, and access to the city’s historic district and beaches. The mansion’s combination of history, hospitality, and ghost stories continues to attract visitors seeking both relaxation and a brush with the paranormal.
