Bulls on the Beach Brings Rodeo Action Back to Wildwood this Weekend

The thundering hooves of rodeo are set to return to the Jersey Shore as Bulls on the Beach brings professional bull riding back to Wildwood this May. The high-energy event will take place on the sand at East Baker Avenue, with shows scheduled for May 15 and 16, 2026. The beachfront rodeo promises a full lineup of action, combining the grit of the arena with the oceanfront backdrop that makes the Wildwoods unique. Presented by Event Tech LLC and Red Eye Rodeo Co., the event will feature professional bull riders taking on powerful bulls in what is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Each performance will also include girls’ barrel racing, trick riding, breakaway roping, Spectator Bull Hockey and additional crowd-pleasing competitions. The event is sanctioned by SEBRA. Beyond the main events, the weekend will offer entertainment for all ages. Gates open approximately two and a half hours before each 7 p.m. showtime, giving attendees time to explore the Western Midway. The midway will include Western-themed vendors, food trailers and beer from MudHen Brewery. Children can take part in sheep riding and stick horse racing prior to the show, and comedic entertainment will be provided by Dave “Showtime” Meyer and Jacob the Amishman. General admission tickets start at $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 12 and younger. VIP packages are also available and include premium seating, a commemorative lanyard and a post-event meet-and-greet with performers.

Advance tickets and additional event details can be found at Bullsonbeach.com.

Ocean City Voters Set To Decide Heated Mayoral Race Today

Ocean City voters will head to the polls today, to decide who will serve as mayor for the next four years in one of the city’s most contentious municipal elections in recent memory. The race is officially non-partisan, with candidates appearing on the ballot without Republican or Democratic labels. Incumbent Mayor Jay Gillian is seeking a fifth term after serving 16 years in office. Gillian was previously elected in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022, making him one of the longest-serving mayors in the resort town’s modern history. The current campaign season has grown increasingly negative, fueled in part by activity from “Our Ocean City PAC,” a political action committee that has circulated criticism aimed primarily at Gillian and fellow mayoral candidate Councilman Peter Madden. The group has not appeared to direct similar criticism toward the race’s third candidate, Councilman Keith Hartzell. Hartzell previously challenged Gillian in the 2022 mayoral election, where Gillian won by a 55% to 45% margin. Much of the political focus in this year’s race has centered on Gillian’s personal financial difficulties rather than criticism of his governing record or city management. In addition to the mayoral race, voters will also choose three at-large members of Ocean City Council. Incumbents Sean Barnes and Tony Polcini are seeking re-election alongside challenger Jim Kelly. Board of Education member Jocelyn Palaganas is also running for one of the open seats.
