Congress Hall Unveils 2026 Veranda Dinner Series in Cape May

Congress Hall in Cape May has announced the return of its 2026 Veranda Dinner Series, a seasonal oceanfront dining experience held on the resort’s scenic lawn overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Beginning May 28, the series will feature themed family-style dinners from 6 to 8 p.m., combining coastal cuisine, community dining, and beachfront views at America’s oldest seaside resort. Executive Chef John Zaitoun will lead the culinary experience with specially curated multi-course menus inspired by fresh seasonal ingredients and seaside flavors. Guests will dine at communal tables designed to create an interactive and social atmosphere. Featured events this season include the Summer Kickoff Dinner on May 28, the Seafood Table Dinner on June 11, and the Shuck & Sear Dinner 2.0 on Sept. 24. Tickets are $115 per person, reservations are required, and Congress Hall is located at 200 Congress Place in Cape May.
Cape May to Host Public Open House Connecting Residents With City Committees

The City of Cape May will host a public open house on Wednesday, May 20, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to connect directly with local boards, commissions and advisory committees. The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cape May Convention Hall, located at 714 Beach Ave. Admission is free and open to the public. City officials say the open house is designed to encourage community engagement and provide insight into the work being done by various municipal groups. Attendees will be able to learn more about ongoing city projects, discuss community initiatives and ask questions about local planning and improvement efforts. Representatives from several boards and committees are expected to participate, offering information about their roles and how residents can become involved in shaping future city decisions. The event is intended to foster dialogue between the public and local government while highlighting current projects and priorities throughout Cape May.
Fifth Term’s the Charm, Ocean City Voters Back Gillian

Ocean City voters reelected Mayor Jay Gillian to a fifth term Tuesday in an election focused largely on the future redevelopment of the former Wonderland Pier site. Gillian defeated Keith Hartzell and Pete Madden in the mayoral race, while Sean Barnes, Jim Kelly and Tony Polcini won at-large council seats. Debate over a proposed luxury hotel on the former amusement park property dominated the campaign and highlighted broader concerns about development and preserving the city’s identity.
