Cape May to Host Special Screening of D-Day Documentary

Cape May residents and visitors are invited to attend a special community screening of A Thread Through History: The Longest Yarn Story on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Cape May Convention Hall. Presented by American Veterans Media, the documentary explores the remarkable journey behind “The Longest Yarn,” an 80-meter handcrafted wool tapestry created by hundreds of volunteers from around the world. Through art, history, and personal storytelling, the film commemorates D-Day, the Allied campaign against Nazi Germany, and the enduring legacy of the Greatest Generation. The event will feature two complimentary screenings at 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. Guests are also invited to attend a cocktail reception at 5:00 p.m. featuring light fare and a cash bar offering beer and wine. Organizers are encouraging attendees to consider making a tax-deductible donation to help offset production expenses for the documentary and support ongoing efforts to preserve this important chapter of world history. The Longest Yarn Cape May County, a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, continues to promote historical education and remembrance through community engagement and artistic storytelling. The event will also include a featured appearance by award-winning artist Sydnei SmithJordan in the Convention Hall’s Community Room. SmithJordan recently unveiled her artwork In Remembrance at the U.S. Memorial honoring the Wereth 11, the African American soldiers of the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion who were executed during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.
Cape May Stage Opens 2026 Broadway Series With High-Energy ‘Tap Into Soul’

Cape May Stage will officially launch its 2026 Broadway Series with Tap Into Soul, a one-night-only live performance starring acclaimed entertainer Solomon Jaye on Saturday, May 23, at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May. Blending the artistry of tap dance, soulful live vocals, and theatrical storytelling, the production delivers a fast-paced and interactive concert experience rooted in the traditions of jazz, rhythm, and classic American soul music. Jaye, recognized for his multi-octave vocal range and dynamic tap performances, uses the stage itself as a percussion instrument, creating an energetic atmosphere designed to keep audiences engaged throughout the evening. The 75-minute performance, presented without intermission, features a wide-ranging musical setlist that spans timeless classics and contemporary favorites. Audience members can expect performances of beloved songs such as “Feeling Good,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “September,” along with modern hits including Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” Hosted at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse on Lafayette Street, the event marks the opening production in Cape May Stage’s seasonal Broadway Series and is expected to draw strong attendance from both residents and visitors. Organizers encourage theatergoers to purchase tickets early through the Cape May Stage Box Office.
