Cape May Bird Observatory Celebrates 50 Years with Renovated Northwood Center
Issue #707

Why This Collagen Works Faster Than the Rest 🧜♀️✨
For decades, beauty has focused on quick fixes: what you put on your skin. But the most radiant glow, strongest hair, and healthiest aging begin from within.
Introducing Pique's Carrara Marine Collagen, a true breakthrough in beauty. This first-of-its-kind formula combines Type I marine collagen for visible radiance with rare Type II collagen from wild Hokkaido salmon to support deeper structural resilience. Enhanced with biotin and micronized pearl powder, Carrara helps promote smoother, more luminous skin, stronger hair and nails, and whole-body vitality.
Designed for superior absorption, you'll see results faster than with traditional collagen. Its rich coconut cream base transforms your daily routine into something indulgent. More ritual than supplement, it elevates even your morning coffee or matcha.
This is collagen, completely reimagined. Not just glow but structure. Not just results but longevity. A new foundation for beauty, built from within. 🧜♀️✨

Cape May Bird Observatory Celebrates 50 Years with Renovated Northwood Center

The Cape May Bird Observatory (CMBO) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of initiatives that honor its legacy while positioning the organization for the future. Central to the celebration is the reopening of the newly renovated and expanded Northwood Center, which has served as CMBO’s headquarters for the past five decades. The extensive renovation modernized the facility with infrastructure improvements, enhanced accessibility features, and new visitor amenities. Upgrades include improvements to building systems, expanded public access, a new deck connecting visitors to the Ryan DeWitt Trail, and the addition of a library dedicated to former CMBO director Pete Dunne. The project was made possible through a major bequest and generous support from donors committed to the observatory’s mission of conservation, education, and bird research. As part of its anniversary celebration, CMBO is also introducing a new logo inspired by an original design created by renowned ornithologist, author, and illustrator David Sibley. The updated logo reflects the observatory’s heritage while creating a stronger visual connection with New Jersey Audubon’s broader branding efforts. Beyond celebrating its history, CMBO continues to expand opportunities for birders and nature enthusiasts. One upcoming event invites participants to join CMBO naturalists on a two-hour guided walk through The Nature Conservancy’s Garrett Family Preserve. Located along Cape Island Creek, the preserve features grassy trails, tidal marsh views, and excellent birdwatching opportunities, including warblers, sparrows, and a variety of marsh-dependent species. The guided excursion requires advance registration and offers participants an opportunity to explore one of Cape May’s lesser-known natural treasures while learning from experienced naturalists. Participants are encouraged to prepare for changing weather conditions, as birding activities are conducted in all types of weather. Walks may cover up to 1.5 miles across generally level terrain that can be muddy or sandy in places.
Cape May’s ‘Spirits, Oddities & Obsessions’ Tour Blends Ghost Stories With History

Cape May visitors looking for a darker twist on local history can step aboard Cape May MAC’s “Spirits, Oddities & Obsessions Combo Tour,” a one-hour experience that dives into the eerie fascinations of the Victorian era. The tour blends ghost stories, unusual folklore, and the Victorian obsession with illusion and the supernatural into a two-part guided experience through Cape May’s historic district and the famed Emlen Physick Estate. Guests begin aboard a MAC trolley departing from the Ocean Street Trolley Stop in downtown Cape May. During the 30-minute “Spirits & Oddities Trolley Tour,” guides share unsettling tales tied to the city’s ornate Victorian homes and colorful past. Stories include strange burial customs, ghostly legends, and bizarre traditions that reflected the era’s fascination with death and mystery. The second portion of the tour takes visitors inside select rooms of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate at 1048 Washington Street. The “Strange Victorian Obsessions House Tour” explores the late-19th-century craze for spiritualism, stage magic, and optical illusion. Guests learn about legendary entertainers and illusionists who captivated audiences of the day, including escape artist Harry Houdini and Ionia, the Belgian performer known as the “Goddess of Mystery.” The experience also highlights Victorian-era entertainment techniques such as Pepper’s Ghost, a theatrical illusion that helped fuel public intrigue around séances and supernatural encounters. Cape May MAC designed the combo tour as an immersive look at the strange curiosities that fascinated Victorians, offering both local history and theatrical storytelling in one experience.
Van Drew Announces Breeze Airways Growth at Atlantic City International

Breeze Airways is preparing to significantly expand its operations at Atlantic City International Airport, stepping in to restore air service following the recent shutdown of Spirit Airlines. Congressman Jeff Van Drew said flights are expected to begin by the end of the year, reconnecting Atlantic City with several Florida destinations and Myrtle Beach while potentially adding more routes in the future. Breeze and Allegiant Air are among the newer carriers serving Atlantic City International Airport, currently offering limited weekly service to select destinations. The planned Breeze expansion is expected to strengthen the airport’s commercial flight offerings and help fill the gap left by Spirit’s departure.
