Cape May Music Festival Features Jazz Brunch with Acclaimed Vocalist Paula Johns

Music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy an elegant jazz brunch featuring acclaimed vocalist Paula Johns at the renowned Shore Club as part of the Cape May Music Festival. A Philadelphia native, Johns has built a reputation as an accomplished cabaret performer and jazz singer. While her vocal style often draws comparisons to legendary jazz artists of the past, she is recognized for bringing her own unique flair and interpretation to every performance. Her repertoire highlights selections from the Great American Songbook, featuring works by celebrated composers and songwriters such as Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Burt Bacharach, and others. Guests can enjoy a combination of live music and brunch in an intimate setting, making the event a standout offering during the festival. The Cape May Music Festival is supported through funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, along with contributions from donors. The festival is presented by Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture), a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and enriching the cultural heritage of the greater Cape May region. Through its cultural programming and heritage tourism initiatives, the organization has played a significant role in expanding Cape May’s appeal beyond the traditional summer season and strengthening its identity as one of the nation’s premier Victorian destinations.
Philadelphia Sports Stars Continue Summer Tradition at the Jersey Shore

The Jersey Shore is once again proving to be a popular offseason destination for Philadelphia's biggest sports names, with athletes and coaches from the Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies making appearances throughout Cape May County. Former Eagles center Jason Kelce has been among the most recognizable faces spotted in the area. Kelce, who owns a home in Sea Isle City and has a business connection to Hank’s Sauce, was seen over Memorial Day Weekend visiting several local destinations, including Range 9 in Cape May Court House, Johnny Cutlets, and Twisties Tavern. He was also seen spending time in Avalon. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni joined Kelce during some of the holiday weekend activities and has also been spotted around Avalon. The Shore has increasingly become a gathering place for current and former Eagles players, many of whom participate in local events and spend time in the area during the offseason. While Eagles personalities have dominated recent sightings, Avalon and Sea Isle City have long been associated with the Philadelphia Flyers. During the Flyers’ successful run in the late 2000s and early 2010s, players frequently spent summers in the region, becoming familiar faces around local restaurants, bars, and beaches. Continuing that tradition, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet recently visited Gully’s, a new Avalon restaurant located at 2688 Dune Drive across from Pirate Golf. Gully’s has quickly attracted attention for its family-friendly atmosphere and nostalgic beach-town theme, which aims to capture the spirit of classic Avalon summers. Other Philadelphia sports figures have also been seen throughout Cape May County in recent weeks. Eagles players Landon Dickerson and Brandon Graham have made appearances in Stone Harbor and Sea Isle City, while Phillies stars Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh have been spotted enjoying local restaurants and shore communities.
Nearly 1.5 Million Cubic Yards of Sand Headed to Avalon and Stone Harbor

Avalon and Stone Harbor will receive a major beach restoration project this summer after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $15.8 million contract aimed at rebuilding storm-damaged beaches and dunes along the Cape May County coastline. The project, awarded to Norfolk Dredging Company, will place nearly 1.5 million cubic yards of sand on beaches in both communities as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen coastal defenses and restore shoreline areas impacted by hurricanes and coastal storms over the past year. In Avalon, approximately 941,000 cubic yards of sand will be added along the beachfront from 9th Street to 28th Street. Stone Harbor is slated to receive nearly 539,000 cubic yards of sand in two sections, stretching from 98th to 114th streets and from 120th Street to the terminal groin. Additional beach areas in Stone Harbor may also receive sand depending on findings from pre-construction surveys. During construction, sections of the beach will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety while dredging equipment, pipelines and heavy machinery are operating
