Cape May Point Arts and Science Center Celebrates America’s 250th with Eagles and Stargazing
Issue #731

Skincare built by longevity scientists — not marketers
Most skincare addresses what happens after your skin ages: the appearance of wrinkles, loss of visible firmness, and dullness. But four PhD longevity scientists asked a different question: what if you could target the cellular process that causes visible aging in the first place?
Their answer is OS-01, the first peptide scientifically proven to address senescent cells — the damaged "zombie cells" that accumulate with age and accelerate visible skin decline. The result: the first topical clinically validated to address visible skin aging at the source. In a double-blind 12-week clinical study of OS-01 FACE:
100% of users showed improved overall appearance
96% improved visible firmness
87% showed improvement in the appearance of wrinkles
Barrier strength improved 15%
This isn't skincare with better marketing. It's skincare with better science. And real results.

Cape May Point Arts and Science Center Celebrates America’s 250th with Eagles and Stargazing

The Cape May Point Arts and Science Center will mark the eve of America’s 250th Anniversary with a free community celebration on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 7 to 10:30 p.m., featuring wildlife, astronomy, history, and family-friendly activities. The evening begins with the grand opening of the Center’s new Bald Eagle and Golden Eagle Exhibit, highlighting the biology, conservation, and historical importance of two of North America’s most iconic birds of prey. The exhibit also explores the Bald Eagle’s enduring role as the national symbol of the United States. Scientists Mike and Trish Lanzone will provide an educational presentation on the history and significance of the eagle before the evening’s official dedication ceremony. Following the indoor events, visitors will gather in the courtyard for a special Fourth of July-themed stargazing program led by astrophysicist Dr. Frank Toriello. The program will feature an introduction to the summer night sky before guests use telescopes and binoculars provided by the Center to observe celestial highlights, including the bright planet Venus and the Summer Triangle, formed by the stars Vega, Deneb, and Altair. If weather conditions prevent outdoor viewing, the astronomy program will move indoors for an interactive presentation exploring black holes, exoplanets, and other discoveries in modern astronomy. Throughout the evening, complimentary hot dogs and ice pops will be available, creating a festive atmosphere for visitors of all ages. Admission is free, although donations are encouraged to support the Center’s arts and science programming. Attendance is limited to 100 guests, and advance reservations are required through the Events page at Capemaypointartsandsciencecenter.org.
Classic Broadway Comes to Cape May Stage in Together Off-Broadway

Cape May Stage is bringing Broadway history to life with Together Off-Broadway: Merman & Martin in Concert, a limited one-week engagement celebrating the enduring friendship of legendary performers Ethel Merman and Mary Martin. Created and performed by Sarah J. Gafgen and Meredith Beck, the 75-minute musical revue blends storytelling with beloved songs to explore the personal and professional bond between two of Broadway’s most influential stars. The production features timeless classics including “I Got Rhythm,” “The Sound of Music,” “A Cockeyed Optimist,” and “Hello, Dolly!,” offering audiences an intimate look beyond the spotlight. Inspired by a little-known 1977 benefit concert that reunited Merman and Martin on stage, the show highlights their decades-long friendship, mutual respect, and remarkable contributions to American musical theater. Rather than focusing on rivalry, the production celebrates the support and camaraderie the two icons shared throughout their careers. The project, developed with support from the Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival and Act II Playhouse, has been years in the making. During its development, the creators painstakingly reconstructed a long-lost duet originally performed by Merman and Martin during Ford Motor Company’s 50th Anniversary Television Special after discovering the original sheet music no longer existed. Presented at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, located at 405 Lafayette Street in historic downtown Cape May, the production is recommended for audiences ages 13 and older. The performance runs approximately 75 minutes with no intermission and is not included in Cape May Stage subscription packages.
Cape May County Placed Under Quarantine After Invasive Box Tree Moth Detected

Cape May County is under an NJDA quarantine after the invasive box tree moth was confirmed at several private residences. The quarantine restricts the movement of boxwood plants and related materials outside the county to prevent the pest's spread. Homeowners and businesses are encouraged to inspect boxwood shrubs, report suspected infestations, properly dispose of infected plant material, and follow state guidance. The insect’s caterpillar stage poses the greatest threat. The bright green caterpillars, marked with black stripes, white spots, fine hairs, and shiny black heads, can strip a boxwood shrub of its leaves in as little as 10 days. Once the foliage is gone, the caterpillars feed on the bark, often killing the plant. Heavy infestations also leave behind dense silk webbing throughout the shrub. Adult box tree moths are typically white with thick brown wing borders and are most active at night, making them more difficult to detect. Residents are advised to remove infested branches or cut severely damaged shrubs back to the base, allowing healthy regrowth from the roots. All boxwood debris should be double-bagged and disposed of in household trash rather than composted.
