The Wild World of the Van Gogh Truthers
In 1990, after years of practicing medicine and reviewing Van Gogh’s case history via his hundreds of letters, Arenberg published a paper in JAMA diagnosing Van Gogh as suffering not from epilepsy, as the artist’s physician claimed a century earlier, but from Ménière’s disease, an inner-ear affliction that can cause vertigo, of which Van Gogh complained, and tinnitus, a persistent ringing in the ears. Ménière’s, to Arenberg, could better explain Van Gogh’s decision to slice off his ear. After retiring, in 2017, Arenberg recommitted himself to studying Van Gogh and became convinced that art historians had made an even more alarming mistake: Van Gogh had not committed suicide. He’d been murdered.

Cape May-Lewes Ferry Earns Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for 15th Year

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry has once again been recognized among the world’s top-rated travel experiences, earning Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Award for the 15th consecutive year. The annual award places the Delaware Bay ferry service in the top 10 percent of all Tripadvisor listings worldwide. The recognition is based entirely on the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by travelers over the previous 12 months, highlighting consistently positive guest experiences. Ferry officials said the milestone reflects the dedication of employees across marine operations, customer service, and onboard hospitality, as well as the continued support of passengers who have shared favorable reviews of their journeys. Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel guidance platform, features more than one billion reviews and contributions from travelers. The company noted that businesses receiving the Travelers’ Choice designation have consistently made a strong impression on visitors and are recognized as among the best experiences available worldwide. Operating year-round between Cape May, New Jersey, and Lewes, Delaware, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry has served travelers since July 1, 1964. Over the past six decades, the ferry has transported more than 50 million passengers across the Delaware Bay. The approximately 75-minute crossing is known for its scenic waterfront views and opportunities to spot dolphins and, on occasion, whales. Combined with its long history and dependable service, the ferry continues to be a popular attraction for both residents and visitors exploring the Delaware and New Jersey shorelines.
Wednesday Night Concert Series Brings Free Music to Cape May Ferry Terminal

We ran this article earlier but good news is worth re-reporting. Lower Township officials have announced the return of the popular Wednesday Night Concert Series at the Cape May–Lewes Ferry Terminal Green in North Cape May, bringing nine free summer concerts and a patriotic drone show to the Delaware Bay waterfront in 2026. The annual concert series will take place Wednesday evenings from July 8 through August 26 at the Cape May Ferry Terminal Green, located at 1200 Lincoln Boulevard. Gates open at 5 p.m., with most performances beginning at 5:30 p.m. The family-friendly series has become one of Cape May County’s signature summer attractions, drawing residents and visitors alike for live music, waterfront views, and sunset gatherings along the bay. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and family members for relaxed evenings outdoors. Admission and parking are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site, though outside alcohol and coolers are prohibited. Leashed pets are welcome. This year’s lineup features a mix of classic rock, dance, party, and tribute bands, highlighted by a special America 250 celebration on Aug. 12. That evening’s festivities will run from 4 to 9 p.m. and include live entertainment, food trucks, children’s rides, and a patriotic drone show benefiting the Children’s Fund. The Aug. 12 celebration will feature Subliminal Message at 4 p.m., followed by Amish Outlaws at 7 p.m., with the drone show scheduled for approximately 8:30 p.m.
