Cape May County 4-H Fair Returns July 16–18 with Free Family Fun

One of New Jersey's oldest and most beloved agricultural traditions returns this month as the Cape May County 4-H Fair welcomes visitors July 16–18 to the 4-H Fairgrounds at 355 Court House–South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House. This year's theme, "Red, White & Blue Ribbons…Celebrating 250 Years the 4-H Way!", honors America's 250th anniversary with a patriotic celebration highlighting the achievements of local 4-H members while offering three days of family-friendly entertainment. Admission to the fair is free and features a full schedule of attractions, including live entertainment, amusement rides, carnival games, pony rides, livestock and horse shows, educational exhibits, demonstrations, food vendors and local businesses. The fair opens Thursday, July 16, from 3 to 10 p.m., with the Grand Opening Parade and Opening Ceremonies beginning at 4 p.m. The ceremony will include the dedication of the BJ Memorial Bench and Rutgers Scarlet Fire Dogwood trees in honor of longtime Cape May County 4-H Agent Betty Jean Webersinn. Fair hours continue Friday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with all vendors open by noon, and Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Additional highlights throughout the weekend include the popular Chicken BBQ, Hebrew Hammer blacksmith demonstrations, amusement rides, a pet show, a new Taste of 4-H cooking contest, an Open Division competition for non-4-H youth and adults, and the 9th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony hosted by the 4-H Foundation. Visitors are also encouraged to explore the exhibits showcasing the talents and accomplishments of Cape May County's 4-H youth in agriculture, science, crafts, animal care and leadership. Limited premium parking is available for $10 per vehicle at Atlantic Cape Community College, located adjacent to the fairgrounds. Free parking is available at the Cape May County Park and Zoo, with complimentary air-conditioned shuttle service provided throughout the event. Organizers also note that well-mannered, leashed dogs are welcome on the fairgrounds.

Wildwood Welcomes 10th Annual Beach Flag Football Tournament

The Battle on the Beach Flag Football Tournament returns to Wildwood on July 11 and 12, bringing two days of competition to the sand for youth and adult athletes from across the region. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the tournament features 5-on-5 beach flag football divisions for boys and girls ages 5 to 17, as well as adult teams. Games will be played on the beach between Oak and Glenwood avenues, just steps from the Wildwood Boardwalk. Hosted and sponsored by Morey's Piers Beach Sports, the tournament guarantees each registered team at least three games, with qualifying teams advancing to the championship rounds. As part of the registration package, each team receives 10 multi-day passes to Morey's Piers, valid July 10 through July 13. The passes include admission to all three amusement piers—Mariner's Pier, Adventure Pier and Surfside Pier—as well as both Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis water parks. The package also includes two bonus days of rides and water park admission on Friday and Monday, giving participants and their families even more time to enjoy their Wildwood stay. Friends and family members can also purchase discounted weekend ride and water park passes that include the same bonus admission days through their team's coach. Blending competitive sports with a classic Jersey Shore vacation, the Battle on the Beach has become a popular summer tradition for flag football players and their families.
