Cape May Lighthouse Invites Visitors to Explore Summer Adventures Above the Shore

The historic Cape May Lighthouse is welcoming visitors throughout the summer with a full lineup of family-friendly events, unique nighttime climbs and seasonal celebrations designed to showcase one of New Jersey’s most recognizable landmarks. Visitors can climb the lighthouse’s original 199-step cast-iron spiral staircase to enjoy panoramic views stretching across the Delaware Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, Cape May Point State Park and the surrounding borough. Along the climb, interpretive displays highlight the history of the lighthouse, its keepers and its continued role as an active navigational aid. Built in 1859, the Cape May Lighthouse is the third beacon constructed at the site. It has been restored and is maintained by Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture). Since reopening to the public in 1988, more than 2.5 million people have climbed to its observation deck. The lighthouse is listed on both the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. Among this summer’s featured events are the popular Full Moon Climbs, offering rare evening access to the lighthouse. Scheduled for July 29, Aug. 28 and Sept. 26 from 8 to 10 p.m., and Oct. 26 and Nov. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m., the climbs provide visitors with sweeping nighttime views from nearly 156 feet above the coastline. The Stairway to the Stars Lighthouse Climbs will take place Aug. 12 and Sept. 10 from 8 to 10 p.m., along with Oct. 10 and Nov. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. Held during the new moon, these evenings offer darker skies that make stars and constellations easier to see. Guests may bring binoculars if they are securely worn throughout the climb, and tickets can be purchased from the Lighthouse Keeper on the evening of each event. Families can also enjoy Christmas in July on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes a visit from Santa between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., games, photo opportunities, regional craft vendors and the Cape May County Bookmobile. Lighthouse climb tickets will also be available for purchase during the event. The summer schedule continues with the National Lighthouse Day Crafts & Collectibles Show on Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will feature family activities, artisan vendors and the Cape May County Bookmobile. Visitors can also climb the lighthouse, with children admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. With daytime adventures, nighttime climbs and special seasonal events, the Cape May Lighthouse continues to offer memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike throughout the summer.

Cape May Promenade Craft Show Returns This Weekend

The Cape May Promenade Craft Show returns this weekend, giving visitors the chance to browse a wide selection of handmade goods while enjoying one of the Jersey Shore's most scenic waterfront locations. The free outdoor event will be held on Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day on the promenade outside the Cape May Convention Hall. Dozens of regional artisans are expected to showcase handcrafted artwork, jewelry, home décor, gifts, and other unique creations. The event offers residents and vacationers an opportunity to support local makers while spending the day along Cape May's beachfront promenade. The Cape May Promenade Craft Show is one of several seasonal craft weekends scheduled throughout the summer. Admission is free, making the event a popular stop for families, shoppers, and visitors looking to explore locally made products in a relaxed seaside setting. More information, including vendor details, is available through the City of Cape May and the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.

Stanley Cup Tour Stops in North Wildwood with Nicolas Deslauriers

Hockey fans will have a rare opportunity to see the Stanley Cup up close when the iconic championship trophy makes a stop in North Wildwood on Friday, July 17. The day begins with a public photo opportunity from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Seaport Pier along the North Wildwood Boardwalk, where visitors can take pictures with the Stanley Cup at no cost. The celebration continues from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Wharf Restaurant & Bar in Wildwood, offering another chance for fans to view the trophy and meet Carolina Hurricanes forward Nicolas Deslauriers. Deslauriers, who previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers before being traded to Carolina in March 2026, helped the Hurricanes capture the Stanley Cup this season. Following the championship, he signed a two-year contract extension with the team during the club's championship parade. The evening wraps up with a Stanley Cup afterparty at Seaport Pier from 9 p.m. until midnight, featuring live music and a festive atmosphere to celebrate hockey's most famous trophy. The free public events are expected to draw hockey fans from across South Jersey and the Philadelphia region for a full day of Stanley Cup celebrations at the Jersey Shore.
