Cape May Jazz Vespers Welcomes Dominick Spolitino Trio
Issue #781

I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?
You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.
Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?
Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.
The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.
That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.
Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.
Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.
If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Cape May Jazz Vespers Welcomes Dominick Spolitino Trio

Fresh off performances in Europe and the Midwest, guitarist Dominick Spolitino returns to New Jersey this month for an afternoon of live music at Cape May Jazz Vespers.
The Dominick Spolitino Trio will perform Sunday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m. at Cape May Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes Street at Decatur Street in Cape May.
Spolitino, a Berklee College of Music alumnus and freelance guitarist working throughout the New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York music scenes, leads a modern jazz ensemble known for combining open improvisation with influences from blues, rock and traditional jazz. The group performs original compositions as well as fresh interpretations of jazz standards.
For the Cape May appearance, Spolitino will be joined by bassist Chico Huff and drummer Dan Monaghan, musicians who make up the trio's East Coast rhythm section.
The performance follows recent touring by Spolitino in Europe and the Midwestern United States. The trio has appeared at venues including Harris Piano Jazz Bar in Kraków, Poland, Fulton Street Collective in Chicago and The Bitter End in New York.
Much of the group's repertoire is connected to Spolitino's debut album as a leader, Sojourn. Featuring trio and duo performances, the recording emphasizes improvisation while moving among a range of musical styles. Spolitino's recorded work includes pieces such as "A Prayer," "Mighty T" and "Replay."
Cape May Jazz Vespers has been bringing live jazz to Cape May since the 1990s. The longstanding community music series is generally held one Sunday afternoon each month in the sanctuary of Cape May Presbyterian Church and features a rotating lineup of regional and internationally experienced musicians.
Gateway Playhouse Brings ‘The Vagina Monologues’ to Somers Point

Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point will present Eve Ensler's internationally recognized The Vagina Monologues for three performances over two days, Aug. 22 and 23.
In 2018, The New York Times stated "No recent hour of theater has had a greater impact worldwide" in an article titled "The Great Work Continues: The 25 Best American Plays Since 'Angels in America'
Charles Isherwood of The New York Times called the play "probably the most important piece of political theater of the last decade."
Presented as part of Gateway's Community Spotlight Series, the production brings together stories based on women's experiences from around the world. Through humor, candor and emotionally challenging material, the play addresses subjects including consent, sexual violence, reproductive rights, female genital mutilation, sex work, aging, love and identity.
The production also explores themes of strength and resilience and the experiences that connect women across different backgrounds and stages of life.
First performed nearly three decades ago, The Vagina Monologues became an international theatrical phenomenon and has frequently been staged in connection with efforts to raise awareness and funds to combat violence against women and girls.
Gateway will continue that benefit tradition by donating $1 from every ticket sold to Avanzar, an Atlantic County nonprofit serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
The partnership will extend beyond fundraising. Following the Aug. 23 matinee, audience members will have the option to remain at the theater for a post-show discussion featuring members of the cast and a representative from Avanzar. The talkback is intended to provide an opportunity to continue conversations raised by the production and connect its subject matter with advocacy and survivor services in the community.
Gateway's staging brings the influential work to a South Jersey audience at a time when many of the issues examined in the play—including consent, reproductive rights, gender, identity and violence—remain part of public and personal conversations.
The production will be presented three times at Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point on Aug. 22 and 23. Additional performance and ticket information is available through Gateway Playhouse. Information about services and programs for survivors is available from Avanzar.
Beachcomber Plans Aug. 29 Color Run for Local Student-Athletes

Beachcomber Camping Resort will add a splash of color to the final weekend of August with a 5K fundraiser supporting the boys and girls cross country teams at Cape May County Technical High School.
The Color Run 5K is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m., with participant check-in beginning at 8 a.m. The course will start and finish at Beachcomber's lakefront beach and remain entirely within the campground, eliminating the need for runners to cross Seashore Road.
Unlike a traditional road race, the event will incorporate dyed powder along the course, giving participants a colorful experience as they make their way through the campground. Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear light-colored clothing to make the colors stand out.
The first 50 participants to sign up will also receive complimentary themed sunglasses and water bottle stickers when they check in.
The fundraiser is open to the public, including participants who are not staying at the campground. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the boys and girls cross country programs at Cape May County Technical High School.
Organizers hope the inaugural event will combine community support, fitness and fun while raising money for local student-athletes, with the goal of developing the Color Run into an annual tradition.
