 New Cape May Stage Play Examines Human Connection in the Age of AI

Cape May Stage will open its production of Your Name Means Dream on Sept. 9, bringing a timely story about artificial intelligence, aging, identity and human connection to the Robert Shackleton Playhouse.

Written by Academy Award-nominated playwright José Rivera and directed by Roy Steinberg, the play follows Aislin, an older woman determined to preserve her independence, and Stacy, a highly advanced artificial intelligence caregiver assigned to assist her.

As their relationship develops, the play examines the growing intersection between technology and everyday life while exploring questions about memory, choice, resilience and what it means to be human.

The story focuses on the emotional and philosophical limits of artificial intelligence, asking whether qualities such as longing, imagination, hope and personal identity can ever be fully understood or replicated by technology.

The production also explores how people define themselves in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms and automated decision-making. Its themes center on consciousness, connection and the tension between technological capability and human experience.

Rivera is known for work that blends poetic language with social and philosophical themes. He received an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for The Motorcycle Diaries.

Your Name Means Dream runs from Sept. 9 through Oct. 18 at Cape May Stage’s Robert Shackleton Playhouse, 405 Lafayette St. in downtown Cape May.

Performances are scheduled Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.

The production includes mature themes and some adult language.

Wildwoods Skies Set to Roar With Two-Day Air Show

The skies over the Jersey Shore will fill with military jets, historic warbirds, aerobatic aircraft and parachutists when the Wildwoods Air Show returns Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13.

The two-day event will take place over the ocean, with performances centered between Morey’s Mariner’s Pier and Adventure Pier. Spectators will be able to watch for free from beaches and Boardwalk locations throughout the Wildwoods.

Flying is expected to begin around noon each day and continue into the afternoon, weather and conditions permitting. The same general lineup is scheduled for both days.

Headlining the 2026 show is the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, showcasing one of the military’s most advanced fighter aircraft. The fifth-generation F-22 combines stealth capabilities, sophisticated sensors, high speed and extreme maneuverability.

South Jersey will also have a hometown presence in the show. The New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Fighter Wing, based at Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township, is scheduled to conduct an F-16 Fighting Falcon flyover.

Historic military aviation will be represented by several aircraft spanning different eras.

Randy Ball will demonstrate a restored MiG-17F, a Cold War-era jet fighter known for its maneuverability. Thom Richard will fly the P-51D Mustang “Jacqueline” on behalf of the American Airpower Museum, bringing one of World War II’s most recognizable fighter aircraft to the Wildwoods.

The Jersey Jerks formation team will perform in North American SNJ/T-6 Texans, aircraft that played an important role in training generations of military pilots.

Veteran aviator Kevin Russo will also perform in a restored 1944 SNJ-6 Texan. Russo is a retired U.S. Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel and former airline captain with decades of flying experience.

Civilian aerobatic performers will add loops, rolls, spins and high-energy vertical maneuvers to the program.

Patrick McAlee will fly his custom Pitts S1S, known as the Blue Demon. David Windmiller is scheduled to perform in an Edge 540, while RJ Gritter will demonstrate precision aerobatics in a Decathlon.

The RE/MAX Skydiving Team will add a parachuting demonstration featuring coordinated aerial maneuvers and precision landings.

The 2026 air show also comes during the 25th anniversary year of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Organizers have planned recognition of military personnel, veterans, first responders and their families as part of the weekend.

Visitors watching from the beach may bring chairs, blankets, umbrellas and wagons. Outside alcohol is prohibited, while food, beverages and sponsor activities will be available around the event area.

General viewing from the beach and Boardwalk is free and does not require advance registration. Premium viewing options are also available.

Reserved Beach Boxes provide a designated area along the show line along with seating, access to dedicated concessions and restrooms, and parking. Other upgraded hospitality options include catered food, beverages, shaded seating and additional amenities.

The weekend begins with a free public meet-and-greet featuring pilots and parachutists from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at MudHen Brewing Co. in Wildwood.

The air show is scheduled to proceed rain or shine, although individual flights and performances may be changed, delayed or canceled because of weather or safety conditions.

Atlantic City Electric Faces 22 Recommendations After Federal Audit

A Federal Energy Regulatory Commission audit covering 2021 through 2025 found five areas of noncompliance at Atlantic City Electric and resulted in 22 recommendations. Findings included transmission-related overbilling and problems involving the accounting and tax treatment of equipment. Atlantic City Electric says the audit does not establish federal tax-law violations and maintains that residential bill impacts were not directly evaluated. The utility’s preliminary estimate puts any refund associated with the identified overbilling at less than two cents per month for a year.
