 Pool Party for a Cause: Wildwood Dogs Splash to Support Beacon Animal Rescue

Summer may be winding down at the Jersey Shore, but dogs in Wildwood got one last chance to make a splash Sunday during Morey’s Piers’ Puppa Palooza.

The Sept. 13 event transformed Raging Waters Water Park into a dog-friendly pool party, giving four-legged visitors an opportunity to paddle through the water, chase tennis balls and enjoy the park after its regular summer season had ended.

For the 2026 event, Puppa Palooza moved away from its traditional beach-walk format and offered scheduled one-hour splash sessions inside Raging Waters. Dogs were allowed to explore the activity pool and water attractions while their owners and handlers watched from outside the water.

A portion of the proceeds from the event benefited Beacon Animal Rescue, a volunteer-run, no-kill dog and cat rescue serving Cape May and Atlantic counties. The organization also joined the festivities with adoptable animals.

The pool party offered Morey’s Piers a playful way to close out another busy summer season before the water park’s pools are cleaned and drained.

Morey’s Piers Director of Marketing Kyle Morey said the event fits the company’s goal of creating lasting memories for families and visitors. This time, those memories included family dogs enjoying an unusual day inside one of Wildwood’s best-known water parks.

The event also marked a bittersweet transition from summer 2026 toward preparations for the next Jersey Shore season.

Each dog attending Puppa Palooza was required to have a designated handler, with a limit of one dog per handler. Dogs were required to wear collars, and owners had to keep leashes available. For safety reasons, people were not permitted in the pools, and dogs displaying aggressive behavior could be asked to leave.

After their time in the water, guests could continue the day at the dog-friendly PigDog Beach Bar, which offered food, beverages, cocktail specials and doggie ice cream.

The rain-or-shine event brought together dog owners, animal lovers and local rescue supporters for an unconventional end-of-summer celebration — giving Wildwood’s pups one final pool day while helping animals still waiting to find permanent homes.

Cape May Welcomes Fall With Harvest Brew Fest at Emlen Physick Estate

The sights, sounds and flavors of fall will take over the Emlen Physick Estate this weekend as Harvest Brew Fest returns to Cape May for an all-day celebration of South Jersey.

The annual festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the historic estate at 1048 Washington St. Admission to the grounds is free, with food, beverages, crafts and other items available for purchase.

Harvest Brew Fest brings together regional breweries, food vendors, artisans and musicians for a family-friendly start to the fall season. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in on the estate grounds for an afternoon of live entertainment.

Animal House will perform on the outdoor stage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Fat Mezz from 2:15 to 5 p.m.

Beer selections will feature a lineup of regional producers, including Anglesea Aleworks, Behr Brewing, Cape May Brewing Co., MudHen Brewing Company, Wanderback Brewery, Whale Tale Brewery and Ludlam Island Brewery. Surfside will also be among the beverage vendors, while Pirate Pete’s Soda Pop will offer a non-alcoholic option.

Festivalgoers will also have plenty to choose from when it comes to food. Scheduled vendors include Bake’n Bacon, Greens & Grains, House of Cupcakes, Rollin Bone, Matt’s Family Taste the Love, Southern State Oyster, Kreations by Kate and Sweet Dreams Ice Cream, along with a Boy Scouts concession stand.

Beyond the food and drinks, visitors can browse handmade goods, vintage finds, crafts and collectibles offered by vendors throughout the estate grounds.

The festival is designed for more than just adults looking to sample local brews. Families can enjoy lawn games and circus performers, while well-behaved dogs are also welcome. A cooling tent will be available for pets.

Free off-site parking will be available at Cape May Elementary School, 921 Lafayette St. A free trolley shuttle will also run throughout the day between the Washington Street Mall Information Booth at Ocean Street and the Emlen Physick Estate.

Proceeds from Harvest Brew Fest support Cape May MAC’s free educational outreach initiatives for learners of all ages.

With local beer, food, music and family activities filling the grounds of one of Cape May’s best-known historic properties, Harvest Brew Fest offers visitors a chance to welcome the fall season while supporting local businesses, artists and community programs.

Booker Visits Cape May as $30M Grant Advances Ferry Fleet Overhaul

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker visited the Cape May Ferry Terminal Aug. 28 to highlight a $30 million federal grant supporting a second diesel-hybrid Cape May-Lewes Ferry. The DRBA already has a $78.6 million contract for its first new 75-car hybrid ferry, expected to enter service in summer 2029. The modernization project is intended to replace aging vessels while protecting a transportation service the DRBA says generates more than $250 million in annual regional economic activity.
