Ocean City Skies Come Alive With Two Days of Aviation Events

Ocean City will turn its attention skyward this weekend as Air Show Weekend returns Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, with two days of aviation displays, skydiving and family activities.

The weekend’s major aviation events are free, with activities taking place at the Ocean City Municipal Airport and above the beach and Boardwalk. Air performances remain dependent on safe weather conditions, and there are no rain dates.

Festivities begin Saturday with the Ocean City Airport Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Municipal Airport at 26th Street and Bay Avenue.

Visitors will have an opportunity to get a close look at an assortment of aircraft, including World War II-era planes, warbirds and classic aircraft. The festival also includes food vendors, music, vehicle displays and activities for children.

Team Fastrax is scheduled to make a parachute jump into the festival at noon, weather permitting. Boardwalk Merchants Association President Wes Kazmarck is scheduled to participate in a tandem jump with a member of the team.

Following the jump, participants of all ages can take part in a half-mile Runway Run/Walk, offering a rare opportunity to travel on a section of airport pavement normally used by aircraft.

Children’s activities will include airplane and coloring contests from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along with face painting and appearances by Martin and Mollie Mollusk. Helicopter rides will be available for an additional charge.

Additional festival parking will be available on Shelter Road off Tennessee Avenue, with free shuttle service to the airport.

The action moves to the beachfront Saturday night when Team Fastrax presents its Parachute Pyrotechnic Show at 8 p.m.

Team members are scheduled to exit an aircraft about 6,000 feet above Ocean City before deploying pyrotechnic effects as they descend in formation. The skydivers will finish the performance by landing on the Seventh Street Beach. The nighttime display can be viewed from locations along the Boardwalk.

Saturday evening also features The Righteous Brothers performing with the Ocean City Pops at the Ocean City Music Pier. The ticketed concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and serves as the Pops’ season finale. The performance will pause around the time of the parachute show so concertgoers can watch the display outside the Music Pier.

Air Show Weekend concludes Sunday with the Boardwalk Aerobatic Air Show beginning at 1 p.m. above the ocean.

Scheduled performers include Team Fastrax, Kevin Russo, the Jersey Jerks, Robert “Rooster” Schmidle and Dougherty Air Shows, among others. Spectators can watch from the beach and Boardwalk, with the primary viewing area stretching from Fifth Street to 14th Street.

Thousands of spectators traditionally gather along Ocean City’s beachfront for the event, which arrives during the final days of the calendar summer.

All aviation performances are subject to weather and flying conditions. Organizers may cancel or alter performances when conditions do not permit safe operations.

Nine Holes, One Good Cause: Golf Outing to Support Beacon Animal Rescue

Beacon Animal Rescue will hold its third annual Golf Fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Big Little Nine Golf Course, 600 Bayberry Drive in Cape May Court House. The nine-hole outing is open to golfers of all ages and skill levels. Registration costs $40 per person, with $20 from each entry going directly to Beacon Animal Rescue. The nonprofit, volunteer-based organization serves Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland counties.

Big Little Nine is a par-3 course owned and operated by Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Water Parks. The course stretches across 89 acres and features meadows, trees, ponds and waterfalls. MudHen Brewing Company will also be on site during the fundraiser. Local businesses can support the event by sponsoring a tee or hole. Proceeds will help Beacon continue its animal rescue and adoption efforts throughout South Jersey. Golfers can register through the Big Little Nine website.

Veterans and Military Families Invited to Free Wildwood Benefits and Health Fair

The 2nd Annual Veterans Benefits and Health Fair will bring more than 80 veterans resources and service providers to the Wildwoods Convention Center on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Presented by the Citizens/Veterans Advisory Committee of Cape May, the free event is designed to connect veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families with benefits assistance, health care resources, legal services and community programs in one convenient location.

Veterans will be able to visit a walk-in benefits clinic for assistance with applications and questions about available benefits. Free health screenings and wellness services will also be offered, with expected services including flu shots and Narcan distribution through Hope One of Cape May County.

The fair will also feature information seminars and Wills for Warriors, providing veterans access to assistance with important legal documents. More than 80 tables are expected to be set up throughout the event, representing organizations and programs serving the veteran community.

Admission and parking are free, and veterans attending the event will be offered a complimentary lunch. Walk-ins are welcome, although advance registration is encouraged.

The Veterans Benefits and Health Fair begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, at the Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk in Wildwood.
