Where Summer Never Ends: New Wildwood Days Festival Debuts Oct. 10

A new festival celebrating the music, food and nostalgia of the Jersey Shore is coming to Downtown Wildwood this weekend.

The first Wildwood Days Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Byrne Plaza. Admission is free.

Presented by The Bobby Rydell Foundation, the inaugural event is designed as a celebration of the Wildwoods and the golden age of Jersey Shore entertainment. Organizers are planning a full day of activities inspired by the era when Wildwood became known for its lively boardwalk, music scene and classic summer atmosphere.

Visitors will be able to browse craft and gift vendors throughout the day, while food vendors will offer a variety of options at the plaza.

The festival also aims to celebrate Wildwood's long connection to popular music and entertainment, a history closely associated with Bobby Rydell.

Rydell, who died in 2022, became a teen idol during the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits including "Wild One," "Volare" and "Wildwood Days." His connection to the resort remains part of Wildwood's musical identity, making the city's downtown plaza a fitting setting for a festival presented by the foundation bearing his name.

The event adds another attraction to Wildwood's fall calendar after the traditional summer tourism season has ended.

Byrne Plaza is located in Downtown Wildwood and regularly hosts community events, festivals and entertainment throughout the year.

The Wildwood Days Festival runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. Admission is free.

Sunday Jazz Returns to Cape May With Paul Jost Trio

Jazz vocalist Paul Jost will bring an afternoon of live music to Cape May this weekend with a performance featuring pianist Josh Richman and bassist Madison Rast.

The Paul Jost Trio is scheduled to perform Sunday, Oct. 11, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. as part of the Cape May Jazz Vespers series at Cape May Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St.

The performance comes after stormy weather disrupted an earlier opportunity to hear the group. Organizers announced the trio would instead appear as the featured musical guests for Sunday's program.

Jost will be joined by Richman on piano and Rast on bass for the intimate afternoon concert.

The performance continues a Cape May musical tradition stretching back decades. Cape May Jazz Vespers began at the Presbyterian church in the 1990s as a way to connect regional musicians with the community while providing a welcoming setting for live jazz.

The church has become particularly suited to the series because of its intimate atmosphere and acoustics.

Jazz Vespers is generally presented one Sunday each month at 3 p.m., with a different featured artist or ensemble appearing at each program.

Sunday's performance is scheduled to run approximately 90 minutes. A $10 donation is suggested at the door.

Cape May Presbyterian Church is located at 500 Hughes St., at the intersection with Decatur Street in Cape May.

Emlen Physick Estate

Families looking for a spooky stop on Halloween night can head to the historic Emlen Physick Estate for an evening of trick-or-treating, seasonal entertainment and Halloween fun.

Trick-or-Treat at the Emlen Physick Estate is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1048 Washington Street in Cape May. Admission to the estate grounds is free.

Children are encouraged to arrive in costume and bring their trick-or-treat bags as they make their way around the property, where spooky and silly characters will help create a festive Halloween atmosphere.

The 1879 Victorian estate provides an especially fitting backdrop for the celebration. Often promoted as Cape May’s original haunted house, the historic property takes on a seasonal look with Halloween decorations, music and other family-friendly attractions.

Visitors can also explore Scarecrow Alley, a seasonal display featuring an assortment of creative scarecrows ranging from humorous to spooky. The display adds another Halloween attraction for families visiting the estate grounds.
