Music, Food and Hope: Survivors of Cancer Benefit Set for Saturday in Wildwood

Survivors of Cancer, Inc. (SOCS), a longtime Cape May County nonprofit organization, will host its annual fundraising event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Bolero Resort in Wildwood, New Jersey. The event will bring together residents, local businesses and community supporters for an evening of live entertainment, food, drinks and prizes, all while raising money to assist Cape May County cancer patients currently undergoing treatment.

The fundraiser will feature live performances by The Cry Babies, Bittersweet and a string band. Guests can enjoy food, draft beer, house wine, soda and prizes throughout the evening. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting Linda at 215-990-3822.

Founded in 2002 by Jimmy Kane, Survivors of Cancer, Inc. is an entirely volunteer-operated organization dedicated to helping full-time Cape May County residents facing the financial challenges of cancer treatment. Over the past 24 years, the nonprofit has raised approximately $2 million and provided assistance to more than 2,000 local cancer patients. The organization helps ease the financial strain associated with medical expenses, household bills and everyday necessities during treatment.

One of the organization's defining commitments is keeping its fundraising efforts focused on Cape May County. Money raised through its charitable events supports eligible local cancer patients and their families, providing assistance when they need it most.

The annual Bolero Resort fundraiser is more than an evening of entertainment. It is an opportunity for the community to come together, support neighbors battling cancer and help continue a mission that has touched thousands of local lives.

Cape May's Free Jitney Expands Into West Cape May With Two New Stops

Getting around Cape May just became easier for residents and visitors in neighboring West Cape May, thanks to an expansion of the city's popular free Jitney shuttle service.

The expanded transportation service now includes two designated stops in West Cape May, giving passengers another convenient way to travel between the borough and Cape May without worrying about downtown parking or transportation costs.

The new stops are located at Fourth Avenue and Broadway and West Cape May Borough Hall. Signs have been installed at both locations to help passengers identify where to board.

Two shuttles operate on alternating routes, providing connections to destinations throughout Cape May.

The Cape May Jitney service offers passengers a convenient transportation option, particularly during the busy summer tourism season when parking spaces can be difficult to find.

The green-and-white minibuses accommodate up to 13 passengers and feature air conditioning, wheelchair lifts and ADA-compliant accessibility. The vehicles operate on compressed natural gas.

Best of all, the service is completely free. Passengers do not need tickets, passes or reservations to ride. Passengers can also take advantage of the Jitney Surfer App, which provides real-time shuttle tracking.
