East Lynne Theater Company Serves Up Holiday Laughs with ‘Fully Committed’

East Lynne Theater Company is serving up a generous helping of holiday humor this December with Fully Committed, a fast-paced, one-man comedy featuring more than 40 characters, one overwhelmed reservation clerk and a restaurant full of demanding customers.

The production, written by Becky Mode and directed by Mark David Boberick, runs Dec. 3-20 at the Clemans Theater for the Arts in Cape May, bringing East Lynne's 2026 mainstage season to a close.

Actor Andrew Betz takes center stage in the comedy, portraying an assortment of celebrities, socialites, restaurant staff and other colorful personalities, all competing for attention at one of Manhattan's most exclusive restaurants during the hectic holiday season.

At the center of the chaos is Sam, a struggling actor working the restaurant's reservation desk. While Sam dreams of escaping New York City and heading home for Christmas, his plans are constantly interrupted by a ringing telephone and an endless parade of wealthy, influential and increasingly demanding callers.

Everyone wants a reservation at the city's hottest dining destination, and nobody seems willing to accept that the restaurant is fully booked.

As the requests become more outrageous, Sam must juggle difficult personalities, mounting frustration and his own holiday aspirations, creating a whirlwind of comedic situations.

For Betz, the production offers another opportunity to showcase his versatility as a performer.

He recently appeared in East Lynne's Halloween production of War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast, where he portrayed more than a dozen characters. His latest assignment more than triples that challenge, requiring him to seamlessly transition between over 40 distinct personalities throughout the performance.

The demanding role calls for quick changes in voice, mannerisms and characterization as Betz brings an entire cast of eccentric New Yorkers to life without the assistance of other actors.

Boberick sees the production as an entertaining finale to a milestone year for East Lynne Theater Company, which presented its first five-show mainstage season in 2026.

With its rapid-fire dialogue, escalating absurdity and holiday setting, Fully Committed promises audiences an evening of laughter while exploring the frustrations of customer service, the excesses of privilege and the simple desire to make it home for Christmas. The production also offers theatergoers a festive entertainment option during Cape May's busy holiday season.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays from Dec. 3-20. A special preview performance will take place Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.

General admission tickets are $40, with discounted tickets available for seniors at $35 and students and military personnel at $25. Preview tickets cost $25, while opening-night tickets are $45 and include admission to an afterparty.

All performances take place at the Clemans Theater for the Arts at the Allen A.M.E., located at 717 Franklin St. in Cape May.

Not Quite Halloween, Not Quite Christmas: Wildwood's New ChristmasWeen Party Combines Both Holidays

Who says Halloween fun has to end on October 31? This November, the Wildwoods are bringing two favorite holidays together for a one-of-a-kind celebration filled with monsters, Christmas cheer, costumes, and unforgettable photo opportunities.

The first-ever ChristmasWeen Party is coming to the Wildwoods Convention Center on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m., offering families a unique opportunity to experience Halloween and Christmas all rolled into one.

The event combines the spooky excitement of Halloween with the festive atmosphere of Christmas, creating a holiday mashup where monsters take a vacation at the Jersey Shore. And unlike traditional Halloween attractions, this celebration is designed to be fun rather than frightening.

ChristmasWeen is being promoted as one of the season's most unusual selfie events, giving visitors a chance to mingle with costumed creatures, meet cosplay characters, and capture memorable family photographs.

Among the characters expected to make appearances are South Jersey Jason Claus, Pennywise, and Krampus, with the possibility of a visit from the legendary Jersey Devil. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras or smartphones and take advantage of the many photo opportunities throughout the event.

From spooky costumes to festive holiday characters, ChristmasWeen promises plenty of unusual combinations that families won't find at a typical Christmas celebration.

Although the event features recognizable horror-inspired characters, organizers emphasize that ChristmasWeen is not a haunted house or a traditional Halloween scare attraction.

There will be no jump scares or frightening walk-through experiences.

Instead, the focus is on friendly character interactions, creative costumes, and family photo opportunities in a festive indoor setting.

Children and adults alike are encouraged to arrive dressed as their favorite Halloween monsters, Christmas characters, superheroes, or other creative personalities. Whether you show up as Santa Claus, a friendly ghost, or something entirely unexpected, costumes are part of the fun.

The Wildwoods are known for hosting festivals, themed celebrations, and family entertainment throughout the year, and ChristmasWeen adds another unusual event to the local calendar.

With Halloween ending just two weeks before the celebration and the Christmas season approaching, organizers are giving families a chance to enjoy the best of both holidays.

The afternoon event also offers visitors an opportunity to spend time in Wildwood during the quieter fall season while enjoying an indoor attraction at the Convention Center.

For families who love Halloween decorations but are already looking forward to Christmas, ChristmasWeen could become a new seasonal tradition. Family-friendly photo opportunities, monster meet-and-greets, and costumes encouraged

Organizers have also indicated that complimentary children's passes are being distributed through select local Wildwood-area businesses, although availability may vary.

Whether you're a Halloween enthusiast, a Christmas lover, or simply searching for something different to enjoy with the family, ChristmasWeen offers a chance to celebrate both holidays in one afternoon. So grab your costume, charge your phone, and get ready to mingle with some merry monsters at the Jersey Shore!

Veterans Day Fundraiser in Wildwood Aims to Help Cape May County Families Facing Homelessness

This Veterans Day, residents and visitors in Cape May County can turn a simple meal into an opportunity to help local families in need.

Three popular Wildwood restaurants — MudHen Brewing Company, Dogtooth Bar & Grill, and Poppi’s Brick Oven Pizza & Kitchen — are joining forces with Family Promise of Cape May County for a special fundraising event on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

During the event, 30% of qualifying net sales from dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders will benefit Family Promise of Cape May County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families with children who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or financial hardship.

The initiative also recognizes the needs of local veteran families who may be facing homelessness or other difficult circumstances. With the holiday season approaching, the fundraiser offers an opportunity for the community to come together and provide meaningful assistance to neighbors who need additional support.

Customers can participate by dining at one of the three restaurants or placing an eligible carryout or delivery order on Veterans Day.

To ensure their purchases count toward the fundraiser, customers should present the event flyer to their server or notify the restaurant when ordering.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the fundraiser is that the money raised will remain in Cape May County. Family Promise of Cape May County works to assist local families with children who are struggling with housing insecurity and other crises. Its efforts also extend to veteran families experiencing difficult circumstances.

As colder weather and the holiday season approach, community fundraising events can help the organization provide additional support to families working toward stability. The Veterans Day partnership gives residents a convenient way to contribute while supporting three local businesses.

The fundraiser takes place Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at all three participating Wildwood restaurants. Eligible dine-in, carryout, and delivery purchases can support the campaign when customers present the flyer or identify their orders as part of the fundraiser.

For those planning to eat out on Veterans Day, choosing one of these three establishments offers a chance to enjoy a meal while helping local children, parents, and veteran families facing hardship.

A meal shared on Veterans Day could make a meaningful difference for a Cape May County family this holiday season.
